TiviMate Companion App Setup Guide (2026 Update)

The "TiviMate" Hurdle

If you've read my TiviMate Premium Guide you know I think it's the best software out there. But because Amazon and Google sometimes clash, you can't always pay for it directly on your Firestick. That's where the TiviMate Companion comes in.

What You Need

1. An Android Phone or Tablet (to run the Companion app).
2. A Google account with a payment method attached.
3. Your TiviMate username and password.

The Process

• Step 1: Download "TiviMate Companion" from the Google Play Store on your phone.
• Step 2: Open it and create an account.
• Step 3: Choose "Unlock Premium" and pay the one-off or yearly fee.
• Step 4: Now, go to your Firestick, open TiviMate, go to Settings > Unlock Premium, and login with the account you just created.

Don't Have an Android?

If you're an iPhone user, this is a bit annoying. You can either use a friend's Android phone or install an "Android Emulator" on your PC (like BlueStacks) to run the Companion app. It's a 10-minute job but it stays unlocked forever.

Why do it?

It unlocks Multi-View, Recording, and a much better UI. It's worth the 10-minute hassle.

What TiviMate Companion Actually Does

TiviMate Companion is a smartphone app (Android only) that serves two purposes:

1. Unlocking TiviMate Premium: The Companion app is the payment mechanism for TiviMate Premium features. You purchase a subscription through the Companion app (approximately £3.49/year), which generates a licence that unlocks Premium on your TiviMate installation. Without the Companion app, you cannot legally unlock TiviMate Premium.

1. Remote Playlist Management: The Companion app allows you to manage your playlists and settings from your smartphone without navigating TiviMate on your TV. This is particularly useful for adding or updating playlists without typing long URLs on a TV remote.

Note: TiviMate Companion is separate from the TiviMate app itself. Install both: TiviMate on your Firestick/Android TV device, and TiviMate Companion on your Android phone.

Step-by-Step Companion App Setup

Step 1: Install TiviMate Companion from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone.

Step 2: Open Companion and create a free account with your email address.

Step 3: Purchase TiviMate Premium within the Companion app via Google Play billing.

Step 4: On your Firestick, open TiviMate. Go to Settings > Account and look for a "Link Account" option.

Step 5: Note the 6-digit pairing code shown on screen.

Step 6: In TiviMate Companion on your phone, go to Connect Device and enter the 6-digit code.

Step 7: TiviMate on your Firestick will show "Premium Activated." All Premium features (recording, multiple playlists, advanced settings) are now unlocked.

Syncing Playlists via Companion

Once your device is linked, TiviMate Companion gives you playlist management from your phone:

1. In the Companion app, go to Devices > select your Firestick.
2. Tap Playlists to see all playlists currently loaded in TiviMate.
3. Tap Add Playlist to add a new M3U URL or Xtream Codes entry from your phone — no typing on the TV remote required.
4. Changes sync to TiviMate on your Firestick automatically within 1–2 minutes.

This remote management capability is particularly useful when your IPTV provider changes their server URL. Update once in the Companion app, and the change propagates to all linked devices.

Remote Control Features

TiviMate Companion includes a virtual remote control:

• Navigate TiviMate's menu from your phone screen
• Search for channels by typing on your phone keyboard (much faster than the on-screen TV keyboard)
• Switch channels, adjust volume, and control playback from your phone while your Firestick remote is unavailable
• The phone and Firestick must be on the same WiFi network for the remote control to function

The remote control feature is particularly useful for typing search queries — finding "Sky Sports Formula 1" by searching "F1" from your phone is seconds faster than using a D-pad remote.

TiviMate Companion vs Browser-Based Management

Some IPTV providers offer browser-based management panels for playlist management. Compared to TiviMate Companion:

• TiviMate Companion: required for Premium activation; adds playlists remotely; includes virtual remote control; manages multiple linked devices
• Browser panels from your IPTV provider: manage your subscription account (expiry, credentials) — a complementary but different function
